Having conquered the battery pack world and establishing itself as a company that makes quality mobile accessories, Mophie's now ready to tackle the next big mobile challenge: storage.
Last year, Mophie released the Space Pack for the iPhone 5 and 5S, a twofer battery pack case that also contained additional flash storage. For phase two, the company's expanding the Space Pack to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and iPad mini. There's also a new universal battery bank/storage solution called the Spacestation and a redesigned file management app called Space that now works without Mophie hardware.

As you take more photos, and download more music, videos and apps, you may find your iPhone and iPad mini's storage running low (especially if you went for the 16GB models). Sure, you can add more storage through cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive, but having your files littered across different platforms isn't ideal for a lot of people.

Mophie's Space Pack keeps it simple by adding more local storage through hardware.
The new Space Pack for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus works exactly the same as the old model. The case adds some real thickness to the thin phones and makes them even tougher to use with one hand and pocket, but those are necessary tradeoffs for the extra battery life and storage.

Space Packs come in three storage capacities: 32GB ($149.95), 64GB ($199.95) and 128GB ($299.95). Space Packs for the iPhone 6 come with a 3,300mAh battery, which can recharge it 100%. The iPhone 6 Plus Space Pack has a smaller 2,600mAh battery, which is good for recharging it 50%.
The Space Pack for the iPad mini come with a 7,000mAh battery and come in the same storage sizes: 32GB ($199.95), 64GB ($299.95) and 128GB ($399.95). Like its iPhone 6/6 Plus siblings, it's a hefty case that doubles the tablet's girth. A nice detail that I didn't notice at first, but realized later, is the case has a magnetic strip on its left side that allows it to work with Smart Covers.
When I asked Mophie's product team why there wasn't an iPad Air/Air 2 Space Pack, they told me it was a size and cost issue. We get what they mean by 'size issue' — a Space Pack-equipped iPad mini is already quite large, we can only imagine what an Air would look like.
Spacestation for iOS and Android
There's also the universal Spacestation that works with Android and iOS, essentially a battery brick a la the company's Powerstation and a hard drive rolled into one. It's got a 6,000mAh battery for recharging any gadgets.
This little brick works with iOS devices running iOS 7 and higher and Android devices running 4.4 'KitKat' and higher. It has a Micro USB and full-sized USB port so you can hook it up to a Mac/PC, and while it does come with a USB cable, I really wish Mophie had stuck with the integrated cables from its Powerstation Plus battery brick.
The Spacestations are priced the same as the new iPhone 6/6 Plus Space Packs: 32GB ($149.95), 64GB ($199.95) and 128GB ($299.95).
Brand spanking new app
There's a reason why iPhones don't have microSD card slots: Managing files between internal and external storage is a nuisance. Just go ask any Android user who isn't a tech geek.
To even use the old Space app, you needed to own an iPhone 5/5S Space Pack. Not so anymore. The new Space app is still free, but it works without any Space Packs or Spacestations; it's a general file manager app.
The all new Space app displays every file downloaded within a smartphone or tablet's internal storage, then automatically sorts them into 'collections' such as photos, videos, music and documents. You can also favorite files so you can find them quickly later. If you've got a Space Pack or a Spacestation connected, the app will also show the contents stored on those.
What the Space app does best is bridge the internal and external storage into a single overview, as if it's all just one storage. An illusion of seamlessness, if you will. On the old app, files on the Space Pack and those on the iPhone were walled off. With the new app, you can now do things like create music playlists from songs from the Music app and songs on a Space Pack or Spacestation.
Space is an elegant file manager app, but it's also a powerful way to wirelessly backup and transfer files to and from a Mac or PC using a local Wi-Fi portal that can be established.
I've been playing with the new Space app on iPhone 6 and iPad mini and it's really quite good. The tablet app for iPad mini is even more user-friendly; Mophie smartly placed its file icons on the left side to make them easier to tap with your thumb.
'Just as we created and established a real solution for mobile power with the juice pack, the next phase of Space establishes a complete, user-friendly solution for mobile storage and file management,' Mophie CEO Daniel Huang said in a press release.
